My passion is to write, as it allows me to share my personal experiences and thoughts with the rest of the world. As I am always coming up with ideas, I feel the need to share them with other like minded people. Business, fashion and health are among some of the topics I like to write about. Even though I am not an expert in any of these specific topics, I still feel that I can contribute a small amount to each one. Unfortunately, in most of the cases these ideas stay hidden, as I find myself lacking a forum to share such ideas. Myself included, I know a many intelligent young women who have great ideas and great ability to express these by writing. Unfortunately, most of these smart ideas are lost due to a lack of a proper place to share them and allow them grow. Although the world in constantly moving toward gender equality, the woman’s voice is still not equal in the business world. Many woman find themselves settling down on a position that does not allow them to reach their full potential and express their thoughts and creative abilities.
Today’s world is one of ideas and content. While trying to promote ourselves in the business world, in many cases the idea and the enthusiasm that comes with it is more important than the actual product. For example, while going to a job interview you will be asked about what you have to say, not about a job you had 5 years ago. The reason being is that people are looking for innovation and original ideas. Every second there are countless of new creative ideas and content in people’s minds, however, some of these ideas are not expressed.
What are these ideas? In this article, ideas will be defined as thought, content and original images regarding the field of individual passion. Since this article is geared towards young professional women, the “fields” discussed will include personal experience and thoughts, business ideas, fashion, art as well as health and wellness.
Today, in the age of internet and social media, we have unlike any other time in history an ability to share ideas and thoughts to millions of people worldwide. One does not have to be a journalist in order to write their thoughts and opinions. However, these platforms have yet to reach their full potential. Current media has yet to provide an open and nonjudgmental place for women like me to share thoughts and ideas to the right audience that will help this ideas to expand.
According to traditional communication theory, there is a path of delivering a message from a sender to receiver. This is done through channels, however, noise and feedback can change the original message. This theory can be applied to the modern world of social media. If in the past channels could be radio or television, today it will be Facebook, LinkedIn, blogs etc. However, the social media channel contains so much noise as everybody shares content, tweets, videos, but no one is actively listening. As described by Dr. Guess in Delivering Authentic Message in Lifestyle Marketing Campaigns; everyone is speaking, but few are understanding the message one is trying to get across, causing so many ideas to get lost in the digital tower of babels.
This brings me to the concept of segmentation. In order to reach to your audience, you target the correct portion as opposed to everyone. Referring your content to the right audience will help these ideas reach their full potential and not fade into background noise. Although there are intelligent people from any segment of the population, this article will focus on the segment of young professional women. In addition to lack of women at the top of the tower in of the business would, being part of this segment will allow me to identify the flaws.
After passing the time of college sororities that allow women to create social groups, they become more isolated afterwards. While men have a lot of sports clubs that helps them socialize within their segment, women stay behind in this area
Adding to it, the pressure of career and marriage as well as the built-in discrimination in society, women tend to neglect their true passions as they do not have a forum or group to help them out.
Today, regardless of so many platforms and social media, the segment of career minded professional women within the age of 20-35 lack a proper to communicate and share content among each other. Women need to fill this gap and find an open stage so that they could share ideas and content with other young professional women all around the world. Basically this will create a professional women sorority that allows them the grow and prosper beyond the university level. Furthermore, it will allow brainstorming and the creation of a meaningful connection based on shared interests. This allows women to build and sell themselves as a brand in a mutual manner through shared communication.
In conclusion, using my passion to write and as an aspiring young female professional, I want to create a forum in which like minded women can express their ideas and creative works. This will allow women to grow as and develop as person and a professional beyond their college years. As there is a lack of such forums, my idea will be able to fill the gap which women are lacking in today’s world. My passion will allow women to further fulfill themselves in the modern world with other women as they will be able to communicate each other and share content amongst themselves.
